Special Notices

ODOT Updates Re: SR 2 West & SR 269 Exit
The traffic pattern on SR2 is reduced to one lane in each direction between the Edison Bay Bridge & SR 269 N exit. All traffic will be maintained in the eastbound lanes with a barrier wall separating the westbound and eastbound lanes. This will allow ODOT room to make the necessary repairs and occupy both westbound lanes.

Through June

SR 2 between Edison Bay Bridge and SR 269 reduced to one, 11' wide lane in each direction

Ramp from westbound SR 2 to northbound SR 269 (Exit 125) closed.

Detour: northbound SR 53 (Exit 124); SR 163.

The ramp from westbound SR 2 to northbound SR 269 (Exit 125) will be open for the following Weekends:

Memorial Day Weekend

  • 11pm Thursday, May 24 - 9am Tuesday, May 29

First Weekend in June

  • 11pm Thursday, May 31 - 9am Monday, June 4

Project complete: June.

All work is weather permitting

Prior Reports:
05.10.18 Update:
The project will not be completed by Memorial Day Weekend. The completion date is unknown at this time. More information will be sent out by ODOT the week of 5/14/18. All work is weather permitting.
As of November 29, 2017, the ramp from west bound SR 2 to SR 269 north (Lakeside/Marblehead Exit 125-B) is  closed for emergency repairs. The asphalt shoulder has undermined 44" and was dropping an additional 1.5" daily. An additional concern was the potential for the concrete exit ramp itself to undermine. ODOT has declared this as an emergency project and the hope is  it can be completed prior to Memorial Day, but weather is the ultimate determining factor for repair, especially with the freeze/thaw over the winter months. Detours will undoubtedly result in an increased level of traffic on E. Port Clinton Eastern Road. Please use extra caution at the E. Bayshore/ State Road and 269 Intersections.

FEMA Great Lakes Coastal Study & New Flood Map Information
FEMA is preparing new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Ottawa and the
surrounding Counties. While Ottawa County recently adopted maps in 2015, these
proposed new maps would replace the 2015 maps. FEMA anticipates that these new
maps will be ready for adoption by 2018-2019. During this timeframe, they will conduct public meetings and community outreach for residents to attend and comment. The Township will do the best that we can to help filter that information to our residents.
